podcast this morning, you saw something very different.

What started as a conversation about his long-shot campaign for mayor of Los Angeles quickly turned into a discussion about why so many ordinary Californians have lost faith in the people running their city.

And throughout the interview, Pratt kept bringing the conversation back to one central point: the political class, the elites, are obsessed with issues that matter to them, while regular people are worried about problems that are right in front of their faces.

The conversation began with the wild story of how Pratt ended up running for mayor in the first place.

According to Pratt, becoming mayor was never the goal. He’s just a man who lost his house in the Palisades fire.

SPENCER PRATT: “I never planned to be the mayor of LA.”

“I only ran to have a bigger platform to expose all the negligence, is the reason why I even ran because this person in charge burned my house down, my mom’s house, my neighbors.”

Maher pushed back immediately, arguing that Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass deserved criticism but wasn’t personally responsible for the fires.

BILL MAHER: “Honestly, I keep hearing you say that…you’re making it a little too personal.”

“I mean, she is not a great mayor…and that is a very common view even among a lot of Democrats…”

“She fcked up some things, a lot of people fcked up some things…one person didn’t burn your house down.”

Pratt actually agreed with part of Maher’s point, but explained why the issue still feels personal to him.

SPENCER PRATT: “Agreed, agreed. But let me…one person who’s in charge of all the things that got f*cked up that burned my house down.”

“So you have to hold somebody responsible who’s in charge.”

When Maher acknowledged that leadership carries responsibility, Pratt brought the conversation back to what happened in his own neighborhood.

SPENCER PRATT: “She was in Ghana, so she obviously didn’t light the fire, so…”

“But it is personal because I have to hear my crying mom every day, the lady across from my house burned alive…that lady with parrots, you know, so it is personal.”

That exchange really set the tone for the rest of the interview.

Subscribe now

Maher often approaches politics from an ideological perspective. Pratt kept dragging the conversation back to real-world consequences.

The same thing happened when the discussion shifted to why Pratt became a Republican.

According to Pratt, it started with death threats he was receiving from appearing on the reality TV show The Hills.

SPENCER PRATT: “So I was getting all of these death threats, so obviously my security’s like, you need to get a gun.”

“So I get a gun.”

“And then as I am a gun owner, with my wife, in Los Angeles to have a gun, you need a CCW.”

“So that’s a concealed carry weapons permit.”

“Very hard to get, and the only people that supported a CCW was the Republican Party.”

“All I cared about politically was to protect my wife and then my kids.”

“That’s my only political thing I’m connected to.”

Again, Pratt wasn’t talking about abstract political theories. After all, he had made it clear that he is not a politician.

He was talking about protecting his family.

That theme kept coming up throughout the show.

Share

Then came the moment that changed the entire interview.

No example could have better illustrated the divide between the average Californian and the Democrat elites.

Pratt dragged Maher out of his liberal bubble and brought him back down to earth.

Maher started discussing California’s regulatory nightmare and brought up the years-long process he went through to get solar panels approved.

Pratt casually mentioned that he thought California was now taxing solar users.

Maher immediately jumped on him.

BILL MAHER: “They are?”

PRATT: “I think so.”

MAHER: “What do you mean you think so?! You have to know!”

Maher seemed genuinely annoyed that Pratt couldn’t immediately recite the details.

Pratt’s response perfectly summed up his entire campaign.

SPENCER PRATT: “I don’t need to know about solar, you know?”

“I need to focus on making sure the moms are safe and the animals are not being abused. That’s my party.”

Maher kept insisting that mayors need to understand policy details. Pratt wasn’t having it.

MAHER: “No, Spencer. I got bad news. If you’re the mayor, you are going to have to learn some of these issues more intricately.”

SPENCER PRATT: “Solar panels…we’re about three years from worrying about solar panels.”

“We need to get all of the naked drug addicts off of the sidewalks and then I can worry about solar panels.”

That was it. He had won the listeners over. That exchange probably did more to explain Pratt’s appeal than anything else he said all night.

Maher wanted to discuss policy mechanics.

Pratt wanted to discuss what people actually see when they walk outside their front door.

That’s when Pratt dropped an even bigger truth bomb and Maher didn’t know what say.

Pratt started talking about homelessness epidemic specifically in Los Angeles.

SPENCER PRATT: “Ready for the best part?”

“60% of the people in Los Angeles that are ‘experiencing homelessness’ — they’re not from California.”

“They’ve been brought here by NGOs that profit off of this homeless industrial complex, Medicaid…”

Maher immediately interrupted.

BILL MAHER: “Wait, wait, wait…”

“They’ve been brought here?”

SPENCER PRATT: “They’ve been brought here.”

BILL MAHER: “Who did that?”

PRATT: “Body brokers bring these people here.”

MAHER: “From where?”

PRATT: “All across the country.”

Maher couldn’t even fathom what he had just heard. Pratt was exposing how Los Angeles has effectively become a magnet because of the incentives built into the current system.

Whether people agree with that assessment or not, it was another example of Pratt pulling the discussion away from ideology and toward the practical consequences he believes residents are dealing with every day.

Subscribe now

That led naturally into a conversation about socialism.

Pratt argued that many struggling voters are being sold a fantasy.

SPENCER PRATT: “I feel like people are all hyped on socialism because they’re like, everything’s so expensive! America’s failed! he walked up to the podium, it was clear this wasn’t going to be one of those slow, scripted press conferences full of meaningless talking points.

Vance came in ready to fight on multiple fronts.
<div class="subscription-widget-wrap-editor" crackdown and immediately started throwing around massive numbers tied to government waste and abuse.

It was all action from the Fraud Czar himself.

According to Vance, the administration has already uncovered billions in fraudulent activity spread across multiple federal systems in just the past few months alone.

VANCE: “We have caught, just in the last couple of months, BILLIONS upon billions of dollars of fraud in our hospice system and our Medicaid system and our Medicare system and our immigration system.”

Vance has essentially become the administration’s point man on the anti-fraud crackdown, and he sounded like someone who believes they’ve only just scratched the surface.

He went on to describe fraudulent SBA loans being identified and stopped before more money went out the door, while also making it clear that the administration is now moving beyond audits and into prosecutions.

“We’ve seen hundreds of millions of dollars of fraudulent loans that were being handed out through the also prosecuting some of the fraudulent criminal activity.”

The way Vance talked about it, this clearly isn’t some side project inside the administration.

He speaks about it like someone who genuinely believes entire parts of the federal system have been quietly looted for years while nobody in Washington wanted to seriously confront it.
<div class="native-video-embed" data-component-name="VideoPlaceholder" conversation moved to Iran.

The fraud discussion was intense, but the Iran portion of the briefing carried a completely different weight to it.

Standing behind the White House podium, Vance laid out what was essentially a two-track message to the Iranian regime: negotiate seriously and move toward a deal, or risk military escalation with the United States.

He made it clear that there is an opportunity for Iran to “reset” their relationship with the U.S. — if they are unwilling, option B is on the table and the U.S. is “locked and loaded.”

VANCE: “Now, what we did here is that we effectively degraded their conventional military capability. That has been done, that has been successfully done.”

“But where we are now is the president has asked us, has told us, to aggressively negotiate with the Iranians.”

Vance said the administration believes progress is being made diplomatically and that Iranian leadership appears interested in reaching some kind of agreement.

At the same time, he repeatedly stressed that there is one condition the White House will not compromise on.

“On that core issue of never having a nuclear weapon, we think that we’ve made a lot of progress. We think the Iranians want to make a deal. The president of United States has asked us to negotiate in good faith, and that’s exactly what we’ve done.”

“So we’re in a pretty good spot here. But there’s an option B, and the option B is that we could restart the military campaign to continue to prosecute the case, to continue to try to achieve America’s objectives.”

“And we could talk a little bit about what that looks like, but that’s not what the president wants. And I don’t think it’s what the Iranians want either.”

Vance said Trump wants a reset in relations after decades of hostility between the two countries, but he also made clear there is a second option sitting in the background if diplomacy fails.

“We have an opportunity here, I think, to reset the relationship that has existed between Iran and the United States for 47 years.”

“That’s what the president has asked us to do, and that’s what we’re going to keep on working at.”

“But it takes two to tango. We are not going to have a deal that allows the Iranians to have a nuclear weapon.”

“So as the president just told me, we’re locked and loaded.”

“We don’t want to go down that pathway, but the president is willing and able to go down that pathway if we have to.”

That was probably the clearest signal yet from the White House that while negotiations are ongoing, the administration wants Iran to understand military action remains a very real possibility.

Share

Once the floor opened up for questions, things got combative pretty quickly and Vance showed them what he was made of.

ABC’s Jonathan Karl immediately pressed Vance over the administration’s new $1.8 billion DOJ “weaponization” compensation fund, framing it as taxpayers footing the bill for lawsuits connected to President Trump.

Vance clearly didn’t like the framing and pushed back almost instantly.

He used Karl’s narrative-driven questions as a gateway toward the moment where he completely shattered the media’s myths about the weaponization fund.

KARL: “I want to ask you about that $1.8 billion fund set up, weaponization funds as it’s being called.”

“Why should taxpayers be paying to settle a $10 billion lawsuit that was brought by the president of the United States?”

“And should people that attacked the Capitol Building and assaulted police officers, should they be eligible? Should they receive money?”

Vance responded by accusing the media of fundamentally misrepresenting what the fund is actually for.

VANCE: “Well, let me say a couple things about that.”

“First, John, I think in some ways, the media has misrepresented what this is actually about.”

According to Vance, the purpose of the program is to compensate Americans who were unfairly targeted through what the administration describes as politically motivated prosecutions during the Biden years.

“This is about compensating Americans for the lawfare that we saw under the last administration. And by the way, anybody can apply for it. Republicans can apply for it. Democrats can apply for it.”

“As you know, the president of the United States has pardoned a number of Democrats who he felt were actually subject to this lawfare.”

Vance even sarcastically referenced Hunter Biden, saying he would be free to apply as well if he wanted to.

“I mean, if Hunter Biden wants to apply for this particular fund, he is welcome to, it’s going to go through a normal process where we vet everything, where we try to identify whether people’s claims are actually legitimate.”

Vance then drew a clear distinction between compensating people for government abuse and personally enriching Trump or his family.

“You say, why should taxpayers fund this? Whenever the United States government incurs legal expenses, it pays out those legal expenses when it it’s settling a lawsuit, it pays out money to settle that lawsuit.”

He asked himself aloud a series of questions, which decisively nuked Karl’s entire argument.

“And the question is, is a dollar of this money going to the Trump administration? No.”

“Is a dollar of this money going to Donald Trump personally? I just mentioned that social media post that he posted with the 51st state and the map of Venezuela.”

“He also talked about this in detail earlier this week to a Fox News reporter who was really a bit taken aback by it.”

“How do you even respond to that?”

Machado didn’t hesitate at all.

Instead of taking the bait into ridiculing President Trump, she leaned the other direction entirely and spoke positively about both Venezuela and the relationship she believes the country could have with the United States in the future.

MACHADO: “Well, I know President Trump really likes Venezuela and for good reasons. It is a beautiful country. But most of all of wonderful people.”

“But I’m sure he’s going to love it even better when we have a country that is free, prosperous, and democratic, and turns into the strongest ally in the Americas…”

“And look, Erin, from every perspective for the American people and for the Venezuelan people, a transition to democracy is a win-win solution…”

You could almost feel the interview slipping away from Burnett at that point.

Most CNN interviews built around Trump follow a pretty predictable script, especially when a foreign leader or opposition figure is involved.

The expectation is usually that the guest will validate the framing, condemn Trump, and help generate the headline the network wants.

But Machado clearly wasn’t interested in playing that role.

A few moments later, Burnett tried again anyway, this time getting even more direct and repeating Trump’s comments almost word-for-word in an effort to force Machado into rejecting them publicly.

The vitriol directed at the president by Burnett was palpable. She could hardly get the words out as she stuttered, ‘But Trump!’

BURNETT: “But when…when…when trump said to the Fox News reporter; ‘I’m very serious about this. So you can talk about this. Instead, she turned the entire discussion into a message about freedom, anti-communism, and alliance with the United States.

The look on Burnett’s face said everything.

She realized pretty quickly that Machado was not going to play along with the narrative she was trying to build, and hastily ended the interview.

However, it was far too late. Everyone had just witnessed a trouncing live on CNN.

Thanks for reading! It was a smarmy move that Tapper constantly does with guests on his show, but this time it backfired.

She used the moment to call out the network itself for the continued attempts to dispel narratives that didn’t exist.

STEFANIK: “This is typical CNN. If anything they are emboldened.

“You know, protects them? The sanctuary laws of San Francisco and California.”

“They strut around armed to the teeth, okay, knowing that no one on the federal level can bother them, okay?”

“Because the state and the city won’t cooperate as almost every state does with joint task force, California won’t do it.”

According to O’Reilly, the consequences have been severe — particularly when it comes to the fentanyl crisis, which is killing and destroying the lives of countless Americans.

“So Honduran drug gangs in this country illegally are fueling a MASSIVE fentanyl crisis that has destroyed the city of San Francisco.”

Then he named names. I used to love to go there.”

But the most disturbing images he brought back centered on what he described as the day-to-day reality now unfolding in certain neighborhoods of the city.

“Now, little children watch drug addicts inject themselves with needles in their neck as they walked to school.”

“Now, Hondurans here illegally cut off people’s hands with machetes if they don’t pay their drug debts.”

“This isn’t about narcotics. This is about massive violence.”

He ended by drawing a stunning juxtaposition between those hellish conditions and the lives of elite Democrat leaders he says are insulated from them — the same people who allowed the carnage to fester.

“Meanwhile, two miles away, Nancy Pelosi is living in an $8 million house guarded by security.”

“So she doesn’t have to experience any of it.”

That’s really the core of his argument.

Not just that things are bad — but that the people in charge don’t have to live with the consequences. They don’t care.

It’s a harsh portrayal, and not everyone will see it the same way.

But the picture O’Reilly is painting is obvious; a city that, in his eyes, has gone from iconic to unrecognizable — a decline he believes Democrats allowed to happen and continue to ignore to this day.

O’Reilly’s special; ‘The Decline and Fall of San Francisco’ will premiere tonight, Thursday March 26th at 9PM ET on NewsNation.

Thanks for reading! Each statistic sounding like a flash bang grenade to the leftist ears of the panelists on The View.

“Yes, there will be mistakes made, but I think if Kristi Noem were up for promotion right now and she put forward the statistics that zero illegals released into the U.S. for 10 months straight have not crossed.”

Hasselbeck continued rattling them off, one after the other.

“That nearly 3 million aliens have left the United States.”

“That we have the lowest murder rate in 125 years.”

“That fentanyl trafficking is down 56% at the border and daily encounters have gone down 96%.”

Before she could continue, Joy Behar attempted to jump in.

Hasselbeck wasn’t finished and she was not about to be interrupted while making her point.

“Hang on one second.”

She pivoted from statistics to a broader philosophical argument, making the case that border enforcement is simply an extension of everyday security norms.

“We need a strong border especially now with the current global situation, and I believe that you may say you don’t want border control and you’re against ICE, but I don’t believe you in your daily lives.”

That’s when it happened. This was the moment that everyone in the room realized her argument was ironclad.

She returned to the visual that had already made her point. Hasselbeck asked the audience directly:

“How many people in the audience had to go through security to get here? Raise your hand.”

“Just be honest, otherwise you got to jail, I guess, for illegal trespassing.”

The cameras cut back to the crowd — hands raised.

“This is an authorized audience. They had to go through security, to get through the border, to get right here to just hear us talk.”

She leaned into the analogy.

“We need strong borders more than ever right now.”

“We are being infiltrated!”

The reaction was immediate.

Nearly every panelist at the table jumped on her, clearly frustrated by what had just been said on their own set.

But by that point, it didn’t really matter.

She had already made her case. The numbers were out there. The analogy had landed.

And the audience — both in the studio and at home — had seen it play out in real time.

On a show where conversations around immigration always follow a predictable script, Hasselbeck broke that rhythm.

For a short while, she pushed the debate somewhere it doesn’t usually go on daytime television — and she held her ground while doing it.

Whether people agreed with her or not, it was one of those moments you could tell would travel far beyond the segment itself.

Thanks for reading!
