12 injured, 2 killed in shooting incidents in New Orleans

Two separate shooting incidents in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon have left 12 people injured and two deceased. The shootings occurred during a "second line" event, a popular New Orleans tradition featuring live brass band music. The first incident took place at around 3:30 p.m. on Almonaster Avenue, where officers, already assigned to the event, reported hearing gunfire. Nine people were shot and transported to a local hospital. About 45 minutes later, a second shooting occurred nearby. At this scene, two individuals were found dead—one at the location and another at the hospital. A third person, injured in the same incident, sought treatment at a hospital and is listed in stable condition. The New Orleans Police Department shut down the second line event for investigation.
