12 injured, 2 killed in shooting incidents in New Orleans
SUMMARY
Two separate shooting incidents in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon have left 12 people injured and two deceased. The shootings occurred during a "second line" event, a popular New Orleans tradition featuring live brass band music. The first incident took place at around 3:30 p.m. on Almonaster Avenue, where officers, already assigned to the event, reported hearing gunfire. Nine people were shot and transported to a local hospital. About 45 minutes later, a second shooting occurred nearby. At this scene, two individuals were found dead—one at the location and another at the hospital. A third person, injured in the same incident, sought treatment at a hospital and is listed in stable condition. The New Orleans Police Department shut down the second line event for investigation. Although both shootings occurred close in time and location, there is no confirmed connection between them yet. Police are investigating motives and working to identify the perpetrators.
