Connecticut woman found dead hours before sentencing for husband's death
SUMMARY
Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi, 76, was found dead in her home just hours before her scheduled sentencing for the 2017 killing of her husband, Dr. Pierluigi Bigazzi. State police, responding to a welfare check at 10:30 a.m., are investigating the "untimely death." Kosuda-Bigazzi was due in Hartford Superior Court at 2 p.m. to receive a 13-year prison sentence as part of a plea deal. Her attorney, Patrick Tomasiewicz, stated his shock at her unexpected death, describing her as a very independent woman who was always in control of her destiny. Kosuda-Bigazzi had admitted to killing her husband during a domestic dispute and concealing his body for months while continuing to collect his paychecks. The case's complex history includes an advanced stage of decomposition found on Dr. Bigazzi's body, discovered by state troopers in February 2018 after a wellness check prompted by UConn Health staff.
