Harvey Weinstein diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, sources say
SUMMARY
Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced former Hollywood mogul, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, according to two sources who spoke to NBC News. Weinstein, who is currently incarcerated at Rikers Island, is reportedly undergoing treatment for the rare form of bone marrow cancer. His legal representative, Craig Rothfeld, declined to provide further details, citing privacy concerns. This diagnosis adds to Weinstein's mounting health issues. In September, he underwent emergency heart surgery, and earlier in July, he was hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19 and suffering from double pneumonia. Weinstein's legal battles continue alongside his health struggles. While his 2020 New York sexual crimes conviction was overturned earlier this year, he remains imprisoned due to a 2022 rape conviction in Los Angeles, for which he was sentenced to 16 years. His legal team is actively appealing that conviction.
