Man, 80, run over for putting Trump sign in yard, say police
SUMMARY
In a politically motivated attack, a 22-year-old Michigan man used an all-terrain vehicle to run over and critically injure an 80-year-old man who was placing a Trump sign in his yard. The suspect, who later took his own life, had also vandalized vehicles displaying Trump and pro-police stickers. The Houghton County Sheriff's Office stated, "The crimes reported in the city of Hancock appeared to be politically motivated, involving victims who displayed Trump election signs as well as law enforcement appreciated stickers and flags commonly referred to as 'thin blue line' paraphernalia." Hancock Police Chief Tami Sleeman expressed concern over the community's safety, emphasizing that politics should not incite violence. The FBI is involved in the ongoing investigation.
