Nearly $1 billion has been spent on political ads over the last week
SUMMARY
In the final week leading up to Election Day, nearly $1 billion has been spent on political ads, with a total of $994 million spent in just seven days, according to AdImpact. This amount represents a significant portion of the more than $10 billion spent on political advertising since the start of 2023. The presidential race accounts for the highest spending, with over $272 million directed towards ads, where former President Donald Trump slightly outspent Vice President Kamala Harris, $43.4 million to $40.7 million. Meanwhile, Democratic super PACs helped the party marginally surpass Republican spending in this period. Down-ballot races have also seen a massive advertising blitz, with more than $267 million spent, particularly in Florida, which has notable ballot referendums on abortion rights and marijuana legalization, each attracting substantial funding. Senate races alone garnered $227 million, with significant spending in competitive states like Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania.
