Poll finds most Dems want Harris for next presidential nominee
SUMMARY
A recent Puck News/Echelon Insights poll shows that Vice President Kamala Harris remains the favored choice for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, despite her loss to President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 election. Harris secured 41% support among likely Democratic voters, far outpacing her closest competitor, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who garnered 8%. Other contenders included Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (7%), Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (6%), and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg (6%). Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez received 4%, while Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (3%), Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (2%), and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (2%) trailed. Notable figures such as Sen. Cory Booker (2%) and Govs. Jared Polis and Wes Moore (1% each) had minimal backing. 16% of respondents were undecided. The survey, conducted Nov. 14-18 among 1,010 likely voters, has a margin of error of ±3.5 percentage points.
