Satanic Statue Outside New Hampshire State House Has Been Destroyed Once Again
SUMMARY
A satanic statue outside the New Hampshire State House has been destroyed for the second time this month. The statue, which depicts a pagan symbol, was toppled by an unidentified person just a day after it was put back together following its initial destruction earlier in December. Concord Police are investigating the incident. The statue was part of a controversial display placed alongside a Christmas nativity scene. It was put up at the request of New Hampshire State Rep. Ellen Read, who aimed to "celebrate science and the pursuit of knowledge" and to promote religious equity. Read approached the Satanic Temple to help create the display after expressing concerns about the prominence of religious symbols at the State House, including the nativity scene. The display faced opposition from some, including Concord Mayor Byron Champlin, who believed the statue was part of an anti-religious agenda. However, city officials granted the display a permit under the First Amendment.
