Texas Democratic delegate robbed at gunpoint near DNC in Chicago
SUMMARY
A Texas Democratic delegate attending the Democratic National Convention in Chicago was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday near the Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the delegate, a 37-year-old man, and his 40-year-old female companion were confronted by a masked gunman. The assailant had arrived in a black Range Rover and had just robbed another individual of his wallet and hotel room key before targeting the delegate and his friend. After stealing their belongings, the gunman fled in the SUV. No injuries were reported. Chicago police believe the suspects, described as two men between 5'7" and 5'9", are linked to at least three other robberies in the area this week. The DNC's Chicago office has yet to comment on the incident.
