Trial underway for ex-politician accused of killing Las Vegas reporter
SUMMARY
The trial of former Clark County public administrator Robert Telles, charged with the 2022 murder of Las Vegas Review-Journal journalist Jeff German, has commenced. German, a veteran reporter known for his critical coverage of Telles, was found stabbed outside his home on Labor Day weekend. Telles, 47, who has pleaded not guilty, faces life imprisonment if convicted. Prosecutors will present DNA evidence believed to be from Telles found under German’s fingernails. Defense attorney Robert Draskovich described the case as “difficult” but reiterated Telles' intention to tell his side. Prosecutors argue that German’s critical articles on Telles provided motive. District Attorney Steve Wolfson stated, “The state of Nevada is looking forward, on behalf of Jeff and his family, to finally seeing that justice is achieved.”
