Two teens charged in attack on ex-NY Gov. David Paterson, stepson who were walking their dog on UES: sources
SUMMARY
Two teens have been charged with second-degree assault for attacking former New York Governor David Paterson and his stepson, Anthony Chester Sliwa, on the Upper East Side. The incident occurred Friday night when Paterson, 70, and Sliwa, 20, were walking their dog. After confronting a group of teens climbing a fire escape, the pair was attacked by the same group later near a McDonald's. Paterson, who is legally blind, was punched but managed to throw one of his attackers against a window. Sliwa, trained in martial arts and the son of Curtis Sliwa, sustained facial injuries requiring stitches. Both were treated and released from the hospital. The juveniles involved turned themselves in to the police on Saturday, and a third teen present during the attack was not charged. Police have not confirmed if additional suspects are being sought in the case.
