Georgia election workers seek control of Giuliani’s assets to collect on $146M defamation judgment
SUMMARY
Two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, have requested a federal judge grant them control over Rudy Giuliani's assets to collect on a $146 million defamation judgment. This judgment was issued after Giuliani, a former attorney for Donald Trump, was accused of making claims about election fraud during the 2020 presidential election. Freeman and Moss’s request follows the recent dismissal of Giuliani's bankruptcy case, which he had filed in an attempt to protect his assets from the substantial judgment. Their attorney, Aaron Nathan, contended that Giuliani has avoided compliance with court orders, necessitating the seizure of his assets. Despite disclosing only $10.6 million in assets, Giuliani could potentially lose his New York apartment, Florida condo, and personal property, including his car and sports memorabilia. Giuliani has seven days to respond to the motion to enforce the judgment.
