Dallas Police Refuse to Join President Trump’s ICE Deportation Efforts

SUMMARY
The Dallas Police Department (DPD) has made it clear that it will not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in deportation raids targeting illegal aliens. Interim Chief Michael Igo addressed a community gathering at Familia Bethel Internacional Church, explaining that DPD officers will not assist in detaining individuals for federal agencies, regardless of their immigration status. This includes not reporting illegal aliens who call 911 for help or are stopped for routine traffic violations. Igo emphasized that the department encourages all individuals, regardless of status, to contact police when in need, ensuring public safety without fear of deportation. However, he did acknowledge that illegal aliens with outstanding warrants could still face deportation. This announcement comes amid a resurgent push by President Trump's administration to increase deportations, with ICE field offices instructed to make 75 arrests per day, targeting criminal illegal aliens.
