Heartbreaking final images show family of 5 in front of doomed helicopter minutes before Hudson River crash

On April 10, 2025, a Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV sightseeing helicopter crashed into the Hudson River near Pier 40 at 3:15 p.m., killing all six aboard. The victims were Agustín Escobar, 48, president and CEO of Siemens Spain, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three children, all middle school age or younger, plus the pilot, whose identity wasn’t released by Thursday night. The family had arrived in New York City from Barcelona that morning for a vacation. Photos from New York Helicopter Tours show them smiling by the chopper before takeoff. The aircraft broke apart midair and plunged into the water, with debris later pulled from the river. Four were pronounced dead at the scene; two died at hospitals. Escobar, with 25 years in global business, led Siemens Spain since December 2022 and was Global CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility since October 2024. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by federal authorities, with no further details disclosed.
