Homan says he will ‘leave it up to Congress’ for deportation funding
SUMMARY
Thomas Homan, President Trump’s newly appointed border czar, said funding for mass deportations under the administration’s immigration plan would ultimately depend on Congress. Speaking on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, Homan emphasized that immigration was the “number one issue that people voted on” and argued, “Congress has a mandate to give us money.” Homan pointed to national security concerns and highlighted the murder of Georgia student Laken Riley, killed by an illegal alien, as a key justification for the administration's strict immigration policies. When questioned by host Martha Raddatz about the specifics of the plan, including the capacity of detention facilities, Homan responded that additional facilities could be built using congressional funding. “Congress needs to come to the table quick and give us the money we need to secure that border,” Homan said, stressing urgency in addressing immigration enforcement through legislative support.
