University of British Columbia investigating professor’s social media post following Trump assassination attempt

The University of British Columbia is investigating a now-deleted social media post by Dr. Karen Pinder, a faculty member, appearing to wish that an assassination attempt on Donald Trump had succeeded. Pinder’s post read, “Damn, so close. Too bad,” according to screenshots. In response to a reply wishing the shooter had better aim, Pinder commented, “What a glorious day it could have been.” Her account has since been deleted. Pinder's account has since been deleted. UBC stated they are looking into the matter and do not condone violence. Canadian politicians, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and B.C. Premier David Eby, condemned the shooting. B.C. Conservative Leader John Rustad eviscerated Pinder's post, stating that such radicalism is unacceptable.
