2 NYPD sergeants injured in Lower Manhattan shooting, police sources say

Two NYPD sergeants were injured during a shooting in Lower Manhattan on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at Delancey and Eldridge Streets as the officers responded to an armed robbery on Canal Street in Chinatown. The sergeants pursued the suspect on foot, and during the confrontation, the suspect fired a shot, hitting one sergeant in the leg and grazing the other. Both officers were taken to Bellevue Hospital and are expected to survive. The 22-year-old suspect, who has a history of drug dealing and gang affiliations, was apprehended and a gun was recovered at the scene. Police are investigating and searching for additional suspects related to the robbery. Canal Street between Chrystie and Allen Streets remains closed during the investigation.
