At least 2 dead after alleged drunk driver mows down 7 pedestrians at NYC 4th of July party: cops
SUMMARY
A drunk driver allegedly mowed down nine people, killing two, during a Fourth of July celebration on the Lower East Side, police sources reported. The victims include a mother and her two young children. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. at Jackson and Water Street in Manhattan when a speeding gray Ford F-150 drove into Corlears Hook Park, striking pedestrians. The truck was on top of four victims when first responders arrived. Four victims remain in critical condition, and three others are seriously injured. Parkgoers restrained the driver until police arrived and took him into custody. Officers reported smelling alcohol on the driver, suggesting it may have played a role in the incident.
