Christian Iraqi who burnt Koran in Sweden sparking huge protests is shot dead 'in live stream assassination'
SUMMARY
Salwan Momika, a 38-year-old anti-Islam activist known for burning the Koran, was shot dead in an apartment in Södertälje, Sweden, during a TikTok livestream on Wednesday night. The Iraqi refugee gained notoriety for staging public demonstrations desecrating the Islamic holy book, sparking outrage amongst radical Islamists. Swedish media reported that police later ended the livestream from his phone. A Stockholm court had been set to rule on Thursday on whether Momika and co-protester Salwan Najem were guilty of inciting 'ethnic hatred' for burning Korans and making derogatory remarks about Muslims. The ruling was postponed to February 3 following his death. Najem later tweeted, "I'm next." Swedish police arrested five individuals in connection with the murder but did not confirm if the shooter was among them. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson addressed the killing in a press conference, while reports suggested the shooter gained access to the building through the roof.
