One of 3 soldiers aboard Black Hawk chopper involved in midair collision identified as former White House aide
SUMMARY
Capt. Rebecca Lobach, 28, was identified as the third pilot in the Black Hawk helicopter collision near Washington, D.C. She served as an aviation officer from 2019 to 2025 and was a former White House social aide in the Biden administration. Originally from Durham, North Carolina, she enlisted in the National Guard in 2018 while in college. She attended Sewanee: The University of the South and later graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2019 with a biology degree as a distinguished military graduate. Lobach earned multiple military honors, including the Army Commendation Medal. Just last month, she escorted Ralph Lauren at a Presidential Medal of Freedom event. Her family called her a “bright star,” and her friend, 1st Lt. Samantha Brown, praised her leadership. She was known for her kindness, ambition, and strength.
