Airplane suddenly drops 25,000 feet during flight, injuring 17 passengers
SUMMARY
Seventeen passengers were injured on a Korean Air flight after the plane suddenly dropped 25,000 feet mid-flight due to a pressurization system issue. The Boeing 737 MAX 8, Flight 189, departed from Seoul, South Korea, en route to Taichung, Taiwan. Shortly after departure, the aircraft made a steep descent over approximately eight minutes, then circled several times before returning to Seoul. The descent caused 15 passengers to experience hyperventilation and eardrum pain. The flight landed safely, and all injured passengers were treated and discharged without severe injuries. Korean Air apologized and provided accommodations, meals, and support to the affected passengers. The airline is cooperating with authorities to investigate the incident.
