Family of man who died in Titan sub implosion sues OceanGate for $50 million
SUMMARY
The family of Paul-Henri Nargeolet, who died in the 2023 Titan submersible implosion, has filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against OceanGate. The lawsuit, filed in Washington, alleges "serious issues" with the submersible and its "troubled history." Nargeolet, a renowned Titanic expert, was among five people killed when the submersible imploded during a dive to the Titanic wreck. The suit claims OceanGate's CEO, Stockton Rush, who also died in the implosion, may have cut corners in constructing the sub. Despite involvement in previous designs, the University of Washington and Boeing have disclaimed any association with the Titan model that imploded. The family's attorney, Tony Buzbee, hopes the lawsuit will reveal the truth about what happened. OceanGate has suspended operations and declined to comment.
