Biden Lounged At The Beach While Floods Wreaked ‘Biblical Devastation’ On Appalachia
SUMMARY
President Joe Biden came under fire this weekend for staying at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, while catastrophic flooding devastated parts of Appalachia. Hurricane Helene, a powerful Category 4 storm, unleashed torrential downpours, causing deadly floods in North Carolina and Tennessee. As of Sunday morning, at least 36 people were reported dead in North Carolina, and 17 in Georgia, including children, with more expected as search efforts continue. In Tennessee, several people are still missing after floodwaters ravaged mountain communities, collapsing bridges and destroying homes. Asheville, North Carolina, was almost completely isolated due to washed-out roads and power outages. Emergency services assistant director Ryan Cole described the flooding as “Biblical” in scale, with state officials working urgently to airlift supplies to cut-off areas. Biden, who left for the beach the day after the storm hit, he has not announced plans to visit the impacted areas.
