Father, 14-year-old son indicted on murder charges over Georgia High School shooting
SUMMARY
A Georgia grand jury indicted 14-year-old Colt Gray and his father, Colin Gray, on murder charges for their involvement in a deadly shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. Colt faces 55 counts, including the murder of two students and two teachers, along with 25 counts of aggravated assault. His father faces 29 counts, including involuntary manslaughter and second-degree murder, for allegedly allowing his son access to an AR-15-style weapon. The shooting, the deadliest in Georgia’s history, also left nine people injured. Both are set for arraignment on November 21. District Attorney Brad Smith emphasized that the tragedy affected not only the victims but also the entire community. The FBI had previously interviewed Colt following tips about threats he made online, but no arrest was made. This case follows a growing trend of holding parents accountable, similar to the prosecution of Ethan Crumbley's parents in Michigan after a 2021 school shooting.
