FBI head says Trump gunman researched JFK assassination before shooting
SUMMARY
A laptop search linked to Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Trump, revealed he had researched John F. Kennedy's assassination prior to the shooting, FBI Director Christopher Wray told lawmakers. Crooks searched "how far away was Oswald from Kennedy" on July 6th, the same day he registered to attend Trump’s July 13th rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Wray stated that this search is important in understanding Crooks' state of mind before the shooting. Crooks flew a drone near the event site hours before the attack, fired multiple shots from a warehouse roof, and possessed multiple explosive devices. Despite these findings, the FBI currently has 'no motive' for the attack and no prior information on Crooks.
