Despite this, Walz reportedly sought and received retirement approval through higher channels, circumventing the standard process, before the official deployment orders were issued. Julin criticized Walz for not adhering to military protocols and for allegedly misleading senior leaders about his intentions. The Harris-Walz campaign has not yet responded to these allegations.
