Former Division Commander Confirms Tim Walz Knew of Upcoming Iraq Deployment Before Retiring: ‘He Knew’
SUMMARY
Former Army Command Sergeant Major Doug Julin has claimed that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, now a Democratic vice presidential candidate, was aware of an imminent Iraq deployment months before his retirement. According to Julin, Walz, then a battalion command sergeant major, confirmed he would lead his battalion into Iraq during meetings in late 2004 and early 2005. Despite this, Walz reportedly sought and received retirement approval through higher channels, circumventing the standard process, before the official deployment orders were issued. Julin criticized Walz for not adhering to military protocols and for allegedly misleading senior leaders about his intentions. The Harris-Walz campaign has not yet responded to these allegations.
