Horror on campus as Arizona college student is randomly stabbed by classmate who thought she was an 'easy target'
SUMMARY
An Arizona State University student, Mara Daffron, 19, is recovering in the hospital after being randomly stabbed by fellow classmate Kaci Sloan on September 19th. Sloan allegedly targeted Daffron because she seemed like an "easier target," attacking her as she entered a Glendale classroom. Witnesses reported that Sloan stabbed Daffron twice before attempting a third strike, which was thwarted by another student, Matthew McCormick. Daffron sustained serious injuries to her tricep and spleen, requiring surgery, and is currently in pain but making progress in her recovery. Sloan has been charged with attempted murder after reportedly admitting to premeditating the attack. Investigators found notes in her backpack indicating her intent to harm someone, but the exact motive remains unclear. During her first court appearance, the judge likened her actions to a school shooting. Sloan is currently held on a $250,000 bond at Maricopa County jail.
