Suspect in custody after series of freeway shootings injure Seattle-area travelers
SUMMARY
A suspect is in custody after a series of freeway shootings in the Seattle area on Monday night injured four people and targeted as many as seven vehicles. Two victims remain in critical condition, with one struck multiple times in the first shooting on Interstate 5 near Seattle and another hit in the neck later in Pierce County. The attacks occurred between 8:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Interstate 5, and authorities believe there may be additional victims who haven’t realized their vehicles were struck. The suspect, identified by witnesses driving a white vehicle, was apprehended after a short pursuit in Fircrest, Washington. Washington State Patrol officials voiced concerns over the frequency of freeway shootings, noting 37 incidents in King County this year alone. The suspect is currently booked on suspicion of first-degree assault.
